 The file is locked.  

 Unlock the file from the file menu.

 The recorder was shaken during recording.

or fluorescent lamp while recording or 
during playback. 

 Avoid using the recorder near cell phones 
or fluorescent lamps. 

 Recording level too low 

 The microphone sensitivity is too low. 

 Set the microphone sensitivity to the 
conference mode and tr y again. 

 Unable to set index marks 

 The maximum number of index marks (32) 
has been reached. 

 Erase unnecessar y index marks. 

 The file is locked. 

 Unlock the file from the file menu. 

 The SD card is locked. 

 Unlock the SD card. 

 Unable to set verbal 
comments 

 The maximum number of verbal comments 
(32) has been reached. 

 Erase unnecessar y verbal comments. 

 Cannot find the recorded file 

 Wrong recording media or folder. 

 Switch to the correct recording media or 
folder. 

 Cannot find the transferred 
files 

 The transferred files are either not 
suppor ted by this recorder or MP3 files 
recorded on devices other than Olympus 
recorders.  

 The recorder can recognize only file format 
suppor ted by this recorder * . 

 Cannot connect to a PC 

 Sometimes a connection cannot be made 
with some PCs running Windows XP, Vista 
or 7. 

 You need to change the PC’s USB settings. 
See ODMS sof tware online help for details.

 This lithium ion rechargeable

Olympus. It is best paired with the 
LI-42C battery charger.
