Built-in speaker
An opt ional Ni - M H Rechargeable
Battery (BR401) from Olympus can
be used for the recorder.
Replacing Batteries:
When [
N
] appears on the display,
r e p l a c e t h e b a t t e r i e s a s s o o n
aspossible. Size-AAA alkaline batteries
are recommended. When the batteries
are depleted, [
O
] app ears on the
disp lay, and the re corder shut s of f.
It is recommended to set the
HOLD
switch to the [
HOLD
] position before
you replace batteries to maintain the
currentsettings (Time and date, etc.).
For your convenience, the recorder also
logs the current settings in nonvolatile
memory at hourly intervals.

batter y drain.

switch.

Set the

switch to the [

] position.
Standby Mode and Display Shut Of f:
If the recorder is stopped or paused for
60 minutes or longer during recording
o r p l ay b a c k , i t g o e s i n t o St a n d b y
(power-save) mode, and the display
shuts of f. To exit Standby mode and
turn on the display, press any button.
Hold
Set the
HOLD
switch to the [
HOLD
]
p ositi o n . All o p e r ati o n b u t to ns a r e
disabled. This feature is useful when
th e r e co r d e r has to b e c a r r i e d i n a
handbag or pocket. Remember to reset
the
HOLD
switch before attempting to
use the recorder.
Notes:
• T h e a l a r m w i l l s o u n d a t t h e
scheduled time even if the recorder
i s s e t t o [
H O L D
] p o s i t i o n . T h e
recorder will then begin to play the
fi le associated with the alarm once
you press any but ton.
• The recorder func tions as follows
with th e

– I f t h e r e c o r d e r i s p l a y i n g , t h e
display goes dark when playback
of the current file has completed.

automatically upon running out
of free memor y.

stopped. Each recorded file is stored
in a folder. Using folders to classify files
makes it convenient to find files you
want to access later. Up to a total of 100
files can be recorded in each folder.
