Making an Emergency Call
1. If t he phone is not on, swit ch it on

If cert ain f eat ures are in use (keyguard, rest rict calls, et c.), you may
first need t o t urn t hose feat ures of f before you can make an
emergency call. Consult t his document and your local cellular
service provider.
When making an emergency call, remember t o give all t he
necessary informat ion as accurat ely as possible. Remember t hat
your wireless phone may be t he only means of communicat ion at
t he scene of an accident - do not cut off t he call unt il given
permission t o do so.
Radio Frequency (RF) Signals
Your wireless handheld port able t elephone is a low power radio
t ransmit t er and receiver. When it is ON, it receives and also sends
out radio frequency (RF) signals.
In August , 1996, t he Federal Communicat ions Commission (FCC)
adopt ed RF exposure guidelines wit h safet y levels f or handheld
wireless phones. Those guidelines are consist ent wit h safet y
st andards previously set by bot h U.S. and int ernat ional st andards
bodies:
ANSI C95.1 (1992)*, NCRP Report 86 (1986)*, ICNIRP (1996)*.
Those st andards were based on comprehensive and periodic
evaluat ions of t he relevant scient ific lit erat ure. For example, over
120 scient ist s, engineers, and physicians f rom universit ies,
government healt h agencies and indust ry reviewed t he available
body of research t o develop t he ANSI St andard (C95.1).
The design of your phone complies wit h t he FCC guidelines (and
t hose st andards).
