To receive a data or fax call
Your phone must be connect ed t o your PC via t he dat a
cable.
1.
The appropriat e dat a or fax soft ware must be run-
ning. Consider set t ing your dat a or fax soft ware t o
aut omat ically answer incoming calls so you can
receive t hem while away from your PC.

Your phone will display eit her Dat a call or Fax call,
depending on t he t ype of incoming call.

Terminat e t he dat a call from your dat a soft ware; fax
calls t ypically t erminat e aut omat ically.
Not e: Avoid t erminat ing a call by pressing your phone’s
key.
This may cause your dat a or f ax applicat ion t o t emporarily lock up
and could cause loss of dat a.
Manual selection of incoming data/ fax calls
Cert ain service providers require t hat you preset your
phone t o receive t he incoming dat a or fax call, rat her
t han having t he phone aut omat ically det ect t he call t ype.
Check wit h your service provider t o see if “pre- arrangement ” of
dat a and/or fax calls is necessary.
Most popular dat a and fax programs allow you t o send
addit ional init ializat ion commands t o t he modem when
t he program is launched, or when t he modem is
inst ruct ed t o receive a call. You will need t o modify your
phone’s modem configurat ion in t he dat a or fax soft ware
so t hat it sends t he following special init ializat ion st ring
t o t he modem:
