6 rd
) is used when the local network uses IPv6 and the ISP has an
IPv4 network. When the NBG-418N v2 has a WAN IPv4 address, you can enable 6rd to
encapsulate IPv6 packets in IPv4 packets to cross the ISP’s IPv4 network.
The NBG-418N v2 generates a global IPv6 prefix from its IPv4 WAN address and tunnels IPv6
traffic to the ISP’s border relay router to connect to the native IPv6 Internet. The local
network can also use IPv4 services. The NBG-418N v2 uses its configured IPv4 WAN IP to route
IPv4 traffic to the IPv4 Internet.
6rd Settings
6rd Mode
Click the
6 rd DHC Pv4
radio button
to have your ISP generate a 6rd DHCPv4 address
automatically. Choose
Ma nua l
to enter a fixed 6rd DHCPv4 address manually.
6rd IPv6 Prefix
Enter an IPv6 prefix and the address prefix length for tunneling IPv6 traffic to the ISP’s Border
Relay router and connecting to the native IPv6 Internet.
IPv4 Address
This shows the NBG-418N v2’s WAN IPv4 address.
Enter the IPv4 subnet mask length (1 to 32) in the
Ma sk Le ng th
field.
6rd Relay
Enter the ISP’s border relay server’s IPv4 address in this field.
IPv6 DNS Settings
Primary/Secondary
DNS Address
Enter the first/second IPv6 DNS server address assigned by the ISP.
LAN IPv6 Address Settings
