Inserting Batteries (Fig.

Lightly press down on the arrow and
slide the battery cover open.

Insert two size-AAA alkaline batter-
ies, observing the correct polarity.

Close the battery cover completely.
• When the
HOLD
switch is set to

is displayed. Follow the next step
without regard to it.
An opt ional Ni - M H Rechargeable
Battery (BR401) from Olympus can
be used for the recorder.
Replacing Batteries:
When [
N
] appears on the display,
r e p l a c e t h e b a t t e r i e s a s s o o n a s
possible. Size -AAA alkaline batteries
are recommended. When the batteries
are depleted, [
O
] appears on the
display, and the recorder shuts of f.
• To replace the bat ter y, make sure
that yo u s e t th e
H O LD
s w itch to
the opposite direction of the arrow
before replacing.

Slide the
HOLD
switch in the direc tion op-
posite that indicated by the arrow.
Power of f:

Standby Mode and Display Shut Of f:
If the recorder is stopped for 5 minutes
or longer during recording or playing,

mode, and the display shuts off. To exit
Standby mode and turn on the display,
press any button.
