Q uick boil timer

This is used for heating up or 
boiling quickly. The heat is in -
creased to the ma ximum level. 
The duration can be individually 
set to la st bet ween one and 
20 minutes. If no specific dura -
tion is selec ted, the gla ss 
ceramic cook top automatically 
switches back to the cooking 
set ting af ter approx . three 
mi nutes. Induc tion cook tops 
switch back af ter approx . one 
minute.

Rackmatic

Even when fully loaded, the 
height of the dishwasher’s upper 
basket can easily be adjusted 
by up to 5 cm. This means that 
larger items – such as tall 
 glasses in the upper basket or 
plates in the lower one – can 
be easily and flexibly accommo -
dated without having to rear-
range ever y thing.

Regeneration elec tronics

Instead of automatically regen -
erating the water sof tening 
system af ter each wa sh, regen -
eration is only ac tivated when 

the need arises. This is calcu -
lated by elec tronic s that emit 
a signal when the nex t dose of 
salt  solution  ha s  to  be  added 
to the water sof tening system. 
T his means that the optimal 
amount of water and salt re -
quired to c ounterac t the re -
spec ti ve water hardne s s is 
used. This keeps costs down 
and is kind to the environment.

Roasting zone

Two cooking zones of a glass 
ceramic cook top can be 
switched on so that they are 
interconnected, thus enlarging 
them to the dimensions of a 
roasting tin. The Gaggenau cast 
roaster is custom - made so that 
it fits the 18 x 41.5 cm roasting 
zone per fectly. On induction 
cook tops, they are intercon -
nected automatically if appropri -
ately sized cook ware is placed 
on the roasting zone.

Rotisserie spit

Uniform grilling from all sides – 
just the thing for poultr y, a rolled 
roast or a leg of lamb. The rotis -
serie spit ensures that meat gets 
crispy and brown on all sides. 
For best results, select grilling 
or top heat as the operating 
mode. The spit is suitable for 
meat weighing up to 6 kg.

Run - on func tion

Just the thing for ef fective room 
ventilation. Once activated, the 
function ensures that the ventila -
tion appliance runs on for up 
to ten minutes af ter use on any 
set ting, before automatically 
switching itself of f.

Glass is hygienic and ensures 
good visibilit y. The shelves can 
be adjusted in height to enable 
the cooling compar tment to be 
segmented as required. Some 
appliances also have a motor-
ised shelf. 

Safet y lock

The safet y lock mechanism in 
Gaggenau ovens terminates 
any heating mode after 12 hours 
of inaction on the par t of the 
user, assuming that the long -
term timer has not been acti -
vated. Most cook tops and Vario 
appliances switch themselves 
of f af ter a par ticular period of 
inaction on the par t of the user. 
The trigger period depends on 
the selected output level.

Sealing flaps

The suction vent in the down -
draf t ventilation system in the 
Vario 40 0 series is sealed when 
the system is not in use. When 
the ventilation is switched of f, 
the flaps remain open for a few 
seconds until the fan comes to 
a full stop. The flaps then close 
automatically.

Sensor control

All the set tings of the cooking 
zones are easily adjusted with 
one touch. The levels of the 
individual cooking zones are 
graphically displayed on the 
gla ss ceramic sur face and the 
operating status is indicated 
a s well. And the cook top is 
secure against being switched 
on accidentally by children or 
while cleaning. The inadver tent 
placing of objec ts on the con -
trol panel is also not enough 
to switch on the appliance. By
