Filling with fuel

SAE  10W-30  is  recommended  for  general  use.

The  recommended  operating  temperature  range

for this engine is 0°C to 40°C.

Checking the oil level (fig. 8/9)

Check  the  engine  oil  level  when  the  engine  is

stopped and is standing horizontally.
1. Unscrew the oil dipstick, and wipe it clean.
2. Guide the oil dipstick into the oil filling nozzle

until it makes contact (do not twist tight), and

remove again.

3. If the oil level is around or below the lower li-

mit mark on the dipstick, top up with oil to the

upper limit mark.

4. Screw the oil dipstick back in.

ADVICE

A low oil level can cause engine damage.

Filling with petrol

1. Unscrew the tank lid (1), and store it in a clean

location.

2. Fill with petrol via a funnel.
3. Clean and tightly close the tank filling opening

(1).

Fuel recommendations

Use clean, fresh, lead-free petrol with a mini-

mum octane rating of 90.
Buy fuel in quantities which can be used wit-

hin 30 days (see 'Storage').
Petrol with a component of up to 10% ethanol

or up to 15% MTBE (anti-knock protection) is

acceptable.
Do not mix petrol with oil.

STARTUP

WARNING!
Danger of poisoning!

Never  run  the  engine  in  enclosed

spaces.

WARNING!
Explosion hazard!

Do not use any pressurised starting fluid.

CAUTION!
Recoil hazard!

The  starter  rope  can  jump  back  to  the

engine  faster  than  the  rope  can  be  re-

leased.

Read the operating manual on the appliance

before putting the engine into operation
Start  and  operate  the  engine  only  outdoors;

operation  in  closed  rooms,  even  with  open

doors and windows, is not permitted
Start the engine only in a horizontal position

Filling the garden pump

CAUTION!

Dry  running  will  destroy  the  pump!  The

pump must be filled with water up to the

overflow  before  each  use  so  that  it  can

draw water immediately.

1. Open the filling screw

2. Fill  with  water  via  the  filling  screw  until  the

mark on the pump housing is reached.

3. Screw the filling screw back in position.

Switching the pump on

1. Open all shut-off devices (valve, spray nozzle,

water cock) in the pressure line.

2. Open the fuel cock (13).

CAUTION!

Do  not  allow  the  pump  to  run  against  a

closed-off pressure line.

Choke (12)

1. Close the choke lever during a cold start.
2. When  the  appliance  is  running  at  operating

temperature,  put  the  choke  lever  in  the  half-

open position.

ADVICE

If  the  appliance  still  does  not  start  after

two attempts, open the choke lever fully.

Starting the engine

Keep flammable foreign matter away from the

exhaust and cylinder area
Allow  the  exhaust,  cylinder  and  cooling  ribs

to cool down before touching

Cable starter (11)

1. Pull out the cable starter briskly, and then al-

low it to wind back in slowly.
