 What to do if…

If, contrary to expectations, your THOMAS TWIN does not function to your satisfaction, first check whether the malfunction is being caused by a 

minor matter before taking up contact with customer service.

General (all functions)



  The appliance will not start

–   Are the power cord, plug and socket intact?

Before checking, unplug the power cord; have all repairs carried out by authorised  

specialists only

–  Is the appliance switched on?

Vacuum cleaning (dry vacuuming)



   Dust is coming out of the appliance 

during vacuuming

–   Is the filter bag system fitted as described in the user manual? 
–   Are the nozzles or the suction port clogged up? 

➔ 

Clean them



   Suction force gradually diminishing 

coarse dirt?

–   Are nozzle, suction port or suction hose clogged with  

➔ 

Stretching the hose during operation will loosen the blockage, remove the blockage



  Suction power is too low

–   Are nozzle, suction port or suction hose clogged with coarse dirt?  

➔ 

Stretch the hose during operation to loosen the blockage; remove the blockage.

–  Is the housing cover properly shut? 

➔ 

Check

–   Is the mechanical suction power control on the handle open?  

➔ 

Close the sliding button on the handle

–   Are the seals on the housing cover free of dirt or adherent particles?  

➔



  The suction force suddenly diminishes

–   Is the dirty water tank full (float has responded)? 

➔ 

Empty it.

–   Is the appliance at a slant (float has responded)?  

➔ 

Place the appliance in a level position and switch it off then on.



   Water is coming out of the exhaust 

openings

–   Is the float in the dirty water tank soiled and stuck, meaning it can no longer respond when the 

tank is full? 

➔

 Clean the float and the hinge

–   Are the anti-sloshing insert and wet filter inserted in the dirty water tank?  

➔

 Switch off the appliance immediately and dry it, install any missing parts



   An excessive pool of water has col-

lected in the suction chamber (a few 

drops are considered normal)

–  Are the seals and seal surfaces heavily soiled? 

➔ 

Clean them

–   Has the wet filter or the anti-sloshing insert been forgotten? 

➔

 Check

 

Excessive  foaming in the  

waste water tank

–  Has genuine THOMAS cleaning concentrate not been used? 

➔

 Replace



  No cleaning fluid is coming out 

although the pump is switched on

–  Is there any cleaning fluid in the spray solution tank? 

➔

 Top up

–   Is the spray nozzle clogged?  

➔ 

Place the nozzle in lukewarm water for a while and then blow it out

–   Is  the  tank  connection  duct  clogged? 

➔ 

Take  out  the  clean  water  tank  and  use  the  crevice  

nozzle to thoroughly vacuum any dirt from the tank connection duct (between the clean water 

tank and the housing)



  Excessive residual moisture, cleaning 

fluid is not being properly extracted

–  Is the mechanical suction power control on the handle open? 

➔ 

Close the sliding button on the handle

–  Is the nozzle properly upright on the floor? 

➔ 

Hold the nozzle slightly more upright for  

vacuuming
