- Insta ll it well

ventila ted room .
- Correct tempera ture settings
Set the refrig era tor or freezer tem p era ture knob to one
of the m ed ium setting s. Very low tem p era tures will not
only c onsum e a g rea t d ea l of energ y b ut will neither
im p rove or leng then the stora g e life of the food . Ex-
c essively low tem p era ture m a y in fa c t sp oil veg eta -
b les, c old m ea ts a nd c heese.
- Do not overfill
Rem em b er tha t p rop er stora g e of food req uires g ood
a ir c irc ula tion. Overfilling your a p p lia nc e will p revent
this c irc ula tion a nd overwork the c om p ressor.
- Shut the doors
Op en your a p p lia nc e only when stric tly nec essa ry;
rem em b er tha t every tim e you op en the d oor m ost of the
c old a ir will b e lost. The m otor will ha ve to run, a nd c onsum e
energ y, to restore the c orrec t tem p era ture.
- Check the door ga skets
Keep the g a skets c lea n a nd soft so tha t they fit c losely
a g a inst the d oor to ensure tha t no c old a ir is lost.
- Never store hot foods
A c onta iner of hot food in the refrig era tor will inc rea se the
tem p era ture sig nific a ntly; a llow food to c ool to room tem -
p era ture b efore storing .
Defrosting
WARNING: do not da ma ge the refrigera tion circuit.
Do not use mecha nica l devices or other tools to speed
up the defrosting process, unless they ha ve been rec-
ommended by the ma nufa cturer.
How to Defrost the Refrigera tor

p urp ose (fig . 1). Here, the hea t p rod uc ed b y the c om p res-
sor will m a ke it eva p ora te. The only thing you m ust d o is to
p eriod ic a lly c hec k a nd c lea n the hole of the d ra in, whic h
is loc a ted b ehind the veg eta b le c risp ers, so tha t the wa ter
d ra ins p rop erly.

How to Defrost the Freezer Compa rtment
- Every so often, rem ove the frost with the sc ra p er p rovid ed
with the a p p lia nc e (d o not use knives or m eta l ob jec ts).
- If the frost is m ore tha n 5 m m thic k, the freezer m ust b e
d efrosted .
Proc eed a s follows: turn the therm osta t knob

setting . Then wra p a ll the frozen a nd fa st-frozen food in
newsp a p er, p la c ing it either in the refrig era tor or in a c ool
p la c e. Lea ve the freezer d oor op en so tha t the frost thaws
c om p letely(fig . 2). You c a n sp eed this p roc ess b y p la c ing
c ontainers of wa rm wa ter in the c om p a rtm ent.

tion, whic h is a lso a g ood d isinfec ta nt. If you d o not ha ve
a ny sod ium b ic a rb ona te a t hom e, use neutra l d eterg ent.
- Wha t not to use: Do not use a b ra sive d eterg ents, b lea c h
or d eterg ents c onta ining a m m onia . Never use solvent-
b a sed p rod uc ts.
- Dishwa sha b le: All the rem ova b le p a rts c a n b e c lea ned
b y soa king in hot soa p y wa ter or d eterg ent. If you own a
d ishwa sher, you m a y wa sh these p a rts in the d ishwa sher.
