Keeping Your Appliance in Shape
Bef ore doing any cleaning, disconnect t he appliance
f rom t he elect ricit y (by pulling out t he plug or t urning
off t he general sw it ch in your home).
Def rost ing
WARNING: do not damage t he ref rigerat ion circuit .
Do not use mechanical devices or ot her t ools t o speed
up t he def rost ing process, unless t hey have been rec-
ommended by t he manuf act urer.
How t o Def rost t he Ref rigerat or
This appliance def rost s aut omat ically and t he w at er is
channeled t o t he back t ow ard t he drain inst alled f or t his
purpose (f ig. 6). Here, t he heat produced by t he compressor
w ill make it evaporat e. The only t hing you must do is t o
periodically check and clean t he hole of t he drain, w hich is
locat ed behind t he veget able crispers, so t hat t he w at er
drains properly.
How t o Def rost t he Freezer
- Every so of t en, remove t he f rost w it h t he scraper provided
w it h t he appliance (do not use knives or met al object s).
- If t he f rost is more t han 15 mm t hick, t he f reezer must be
def rost ed.
Proceed as f ollow s: t urn t he t hermost at knob (H) t o t he ·
set t ing "0" (Fig. 7). Then w rap all t he f rozen and f ast -f rozen
f ood in new spaper, placing it eit her in t he ref rigerat or or in
a cool place. Leave t he f reezer door open so t hat t he f rost
thaw s completely. You can speed this process by placing con-
t ainers of w arm w at er in t he compart ment .
The unit is provided w it h a syst em w hich allow s t he def rost
w at er t o be collect ed in a cont ainer t o be placed beneat h
t he unit (proceed as illust rat ed in f ig 8).

- Use t he Right Temperat ure Set t ing
A set t ing w hich is t oo cold increases energy consumpt ion.
- Do not Overf ill
To conserve f ood properly, t he cold air must circulat e f reely
within the refrigerator. If it is overfilled, this will prevent proper
air circulat ion, f orcing t he compressor t o w ork cont inuously.
- Close t he Doors
Open your ref rigerat or as lit t le as possible because each t ime
you do so you loose much of t he cold air. To raise t he t em-
perat ure t o t he proper level again, t he mot or must w ork f or
a long t ime, consuming energy.
- Keep an Eye on t he Seals
Keep t he seals clean and make sure t hat t hey adhere w ell t o
t he door. This alone w ill ensure t hat no cold air escapes.
- No Hot Foods
A hot pot or pan placed in t he ref rigerat or immediat ely raises
t he t emperat ure several degrees. Let hot cookw are and f ood
cool t o ambient t emperat ure bef ore placing t hem in t he re-
f rigerat or.
- Def rost t he Freezer
Check t he t hickness of t he f rost on t he w alls of t he f reezer
and immediat ely def rost it if t he layer of f rost is t oo t hick.
