Step 3: Generator Start up Figure
1
Disconnect all electrical loads from the generator. Use
the following start instructions:
1. Make sure unit is outdoors on a level surface.
NOTICE
Failure to operate the unit on a level surface
may cause the unit to shut down.
2. Rotate fuel valve (
R
) to ON (I) position.
3. Move choke lever (
P
) to CHOKE ( ) position.
NOTICE
For a warm engine, be sure choke lever is in
RUN ( ) position.
4. Turn and hold key in start switch (
B
) to START
( )
position until generator starts. DO NOT hold key in
START
( )
position for more than 5 seconds. Pause
for at least 30 seconds between starting attempts.
NOTICE
If battery is discharged, turn key in start switch
to RUN (I) position, grasp recoil handle and pull slowly
until slight resistance is felt. Then pull rapidly one time
only to start engine.
5. As engine warms up, slowly move choke lever to
RUN ( ) position.
NOTICE
This unit is equipped with a low oil protection
device. Oil must be at proper level for engine to run. If
the engine oil drops below a preset level, an oil switch
will stop the engine. Check oil level with dipstick.
WARNING!
Exhaust heat / gases could
ignite combustibles, structures or
damage fuel tank causing a fire, resulting
in death or serious injury. Contact with muffler area could
cause burns resulting in serious injury. Pay attention to
the warnings on the generator. Do not touch hot parts
and avoid hot exhaust gases.
Step 4: Connecting Electrical Loads Figure
1
Generator may only be loaded up to rated power under
the rated conditions as shown on unit data tag. Reduce
load when using generator outside of rated conditions.
Use only high quality, well-insulated extension cables in
accordance with IEC 245-4 with the generator’s 230 Volt
AC outlets. Inspect extension cables before each use.
Check that all extension cables are suitably rated and
are not damaged. When using extension cords under 40°
C, the total length of cords for a cross section of 1.5 mm²
should not exceed 50 m or for a cross section of 2.5 mm²
should not exceed 80 m.
WARNING!
Damaged or overloaded extension
cords could overheat, arc, and burn resulting in
death or serious injury. Electrical equipment,
including cables and plug connections, should not be
defective.
NOTICE
Connect electrical loads in off position then
turn on for operation.
230 Volt AC Receptacle
Use receptacles (
E
or
F
) to operate 230 Volt AC, single-
phase, 50 Hz electrical loads. The 16A receptacles
are protected against overload by push-to-reset circuit
breakers (
G
). The 32A receptacle is protected against
overload by the main breaker (
C
). If the main breaker
trips, it cuts power to all receptacles.
Protection of electrical components depends on circuit
breakers specifically matched to the generator. Replace
circuit breaker with identical rating and performance
characteristics.
WARNING!
Generator voltage could cause
electrical shock or burn resulting in death or
serious injury. Do not touch bare wires or
receptacles. Do not use generator with electrical cords
which are worn, frayed, bare or otherwise damaged. Do
not operate generator in the rain or wet weather. Do not
handle generator or electrical cords while standing in
water, while barefoot, or while hands or feet are wet. Do
not allow unqualified persons or children to operate or
service generator. Keep children a safe distance from
generator.
Step 5: Generator Shut Down
1. Turn off and unplug all electrical loads from generator
panel receptacles. Never stop engine with electrical
devices plugged in and turned on.
2. Let engine run at no-load for one minute to stabilize
internal temperatures of engine and generator.
3. Turn key in start switch to OFF (0) position.
4. Rotate fuel valve to OFF (0) position.
