Hard - chromed cooking
surface
See Teppan Yaki.
Heating element
This is inser ted into the socket
inside the Gaggenau oven for
focussed heating of the baking
stone or gastronorm roaster.
Hot air
See Steaming.
Humidity control
For calibrated control of humid
ity in cooling appliances or
wine storage and temperature
control cabinets.
Refrigerators: A regulator
e n s u r i n g natural humidit y is
retained in refrigerators auto
matically. This creates ideal
storage conditions, par ticularly
for fruit and vegetables, salad
and fresh herbs. The appear
ance, taste, vitamins and nutri
ents are retained for much
longer.
Wine storage and tempe r-
ature control cabinets: The
defrost function of state ofthe
ar t refrigerators reduces humid
ity in the interior. By switching
on the ventilator, humidity can
be retained in the appliance so
that dr ying out is avoided.
Humidor
E xpensive cigars can be stored
and matured here at the right
humidity and ambient tempera
ture. The solid, hand crafted
body is made from finely coordi
nated exquisite wood to match
the interior of the wine cabinet
and holds up to 50 cigars. The
sophisticated humidity element
in the interior, coupled with the
storage of the humidor in the
temperate red wine compar t
ment, enable an optimum, con
stant climate to be maintained.
I
Ice and water dispenser
This dispenser for ice cubes,
crushed ice and chilled water,
can be removed while the door
is closed. Glasses, large jugs
or spor ts bot tles can be filled
up via the water dispenser.
The integrated ice dispenser is
located in the freezer compar t
ment. These appliances require
a fixed inlet water connection.
Induction cooktops
Induction is a method of heat
transfer that makes optimum use
of energy. Induction involves a
precise and responsive power
deliver y via a magnetic field,
and also speeds up cooking
times – just like gas. Since the
induction method means that
only the bottom of the pot is
heated, there is no loss of un
used heat. Compared to glass
ceramic cooktops, induction
cooktops hardly heat up at all,
so that spilled food and liquid
hardly ever burn. Pots and pans
of all shapes and sizes are suit
able for use on a cooking zone –
the system automatically de
tects the diameter of the pot’s
base and only heats the appro
priate area. Once the pot is
removed, the zone doesn’t emit
any more energy until the nex t
pot is placed on it. The booster
function provides more power –
raising the energy delivered to
a cooking zone by 50 % for a
brief period. Pots and pans
which are suitable for induction
cooking can be identified either
by their labelling or by the fact
that a magnet placed on the
pan‘s base sticks to the base.
Induction wok
With the musthave wok ring and
wok pan accessories, your induc
tion cooktop is transformed into
an induction wok. It is so power
ful, it is considered to be the
electric equivalent of the gas
wok. The heat is concentrated in
the middle of the wok and is
ideal for stir fr ying in the classic
Asian style.
Infrared grill
The grill temperature of a micro
wave with infrared grill can be
chosen individually for the meal
you want to prepare; it’s also
ideal for “au gratin” dishes and
meals that require browning.
The selected temperature or grill
mode is visible on the display.
Info - Light
In fully integrated dishwashers,
a red dot of light projected on to
the ground indicates that a rinse
programme is in operation. The
tiny red light disappears when
the programme ends. This helps
to prevent the unintentional and
premature opening of ver y quiet
dishwashers.
Innowave
This sophisticated feature,
which is also known as inver ter
technology, of fers microwave
power set tings with variable
energy outputs. Compared to
conventional appliances, it
is a much more gentle way of
preparing food as users can
choose between high, medium
and low power settings. This
means fast and consistent
Humidor.
Here you can store and mature expensive cigars
at the right humidity and ambient temperature.

Use the wok ring
and wok pan special accessories
to transform your induction
cooktop into an induction wok
zone.
Grinding gear
Freshly ground coffee beans are
a prerequisite for tasty coffee or
espresso. The full coffee aroma
develops through the high qual
ity conical grinding gear. You
can choose bet ween six grind
ing levels – from fine to rough –
depending on the user’s indi
vidual preferences.
Grease filter in front of hot
air fan
The fumes which occur during
baking and fr ying are caught by
a removable grease filter, which
can be cleaned simply and easi
ly in the dishwasher. For ovens
with the pyroly tic system, no
filter is necessar y since dir t in
the area around the hot air fan
can be removed by pyrolysis.
Grease filter saturation
indicator
A signal on the control panel
reminds you that the grease fil
ter needs to be cleaned. Soiled
filters are not as effective and
increase the noise level of the
hood.
Ground coffee portioning
The strength of coffee can be
set individually from “ver y mild”
all the way up to “ex tra strong”
(coffee quantity between 7 and
14 g). The setting is indicated in
the function display.
H
Halogen lighting
For ex tra bright, clear light in
the oven interior. Each phase
during the baking, roasting or
steaming procedure can be
monitored using glare free light.

results when both cooking and
thawing. Since the heat pen
etrates gently, food which is
overcooked at the top or on the
edges will become a thing of
the past – no more half cooked
food which is still frozen in
the middle. In fact, your food
will both look and taste better.
Intensive mode
Three power settings and an
intensive mode can be activated
via individual control but tons
on the ventilation appliances.
Depending on the par ticular
model and setting, the intensive
mode automatically rever ts to
the previously selected power
set ting af ter three, five or ten
minutes of operation.
Interior light
A bright white light evenly illu
minates the interior from above,
meaning that users have a
better view of the appliance’s
contents.
Interiors for wine cabinets
Bottle trays in beech and
aluminium: The untreated
beech ensures that no aroma
transfer can occur. The wood
is rounded of f to protect the
labels.
Interior sets: There are two
highly practical feature sets for
the RW 496 to suit your indi
vidual preferences: the space
saving set for ma ximising wine
storage capacity or the set for
presenting fine wines in the
manner they deser ve – such as
behind glass doors. The set for
ma ximising wine storage capa c
ity contains trays made from
aluminium and untreated beech.
