electromagnetic ields (eMF)

This Philips appliance complies with all standards regarding electromagnetic ields (EMF). If handled 

properly and according to the instructions in this user manual, the appliance is safe to use based on 

scientiic evidence available today.

Before use

Batteries for the remote control are supplied with the appliance. Inser t the batteries into the 
batter y compar tment before you use the appliance. The batteries last at least 2 years.

 Use a screwdriver to remove the screw of the battery compartment lid (1) and remove the 

battery compartment lid (2) (Fig. 4).

 Insert two AAA 1.5-volt alkaline batteries into the handle.  (Fig. 5)

Note: Make sure that the - and + poles point in the right direction.

 Reattach the battery compartment lid (1) and fasten the screw with a screwdriver 

(2).  (Fig. 6)

The appliance is now ready for use.

Ergonomic advice

ComfortControl handgrip (speciic types only)

The unique Comfor tControl handgrip is ergonomically designed to give you suficient comfor t 

during vacuum cleaning.

To gain optimal beneit from this handgrip, it is impor tant that you do not position your second 

hand on the tube. When you do so, you twist and bend your back, which could result in back 

problems (Fig. 7).

Our ergonomist advises you to adjust the length of the tube so that the hand holding the 

standard handgrip is at hip level.

PostureProtect handgrip (speciic types only)

-

The unique PostureProtect handgrip is ergonomically designed for 2-handed use to prevent you 

from placing your hand on the lower par t of the tube.We recommend that you use the 

PostureProtect handgrip to prevent bending your back, but if you do not ind it comfor table to 

use, you can remove it. In this case, follow the instructions in section ‘Removing the 

PostureProtect handgrip’ in chapter ‘Troubleshooting’ (Fig. 8).

Do not place your other hand on the tube. You twist and bend your spine when you do so, 
which could result in back problems.

Carrying handle

If you need to carr y the appliance, carr y it in line with your arm to prevent twisting your wrist. 

The carr ying handle of the appliance is specially designed for this purpose.

 Attach the handgrip to the telescopic tube (‘click’) (Fig. 9).

  2 

 To disconnect the handgrip from the tube, hold the handgrip with one hand. With the other 

hand, hold the telescopic tube and press the tube release button (1) and pull the tube off the 
handgrip (2) (Fig. 10).
