General information
The measured values serve only as indicators
to observe longterm changes. They do not
substitute medical supervision or a doctor’s
consultation. For more information about your
body fat, body water, bone mass and muscle
mass percentages and their ideal values,
please consult your physician.
Tip:
To collect comparable values it is
recommended to weigh yourself each
day at the same time and under the same
conditions (preferable three hours after
meals or exercise).
Note:
The values are not meaningful for
children under 10 years of age.
What is the BMI?
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is used to assess
a person’s weight. It indicates whether a
person’s weight is normal, too high or too low.
The Body Mass Index (BMI) is the quotient
of the body weight (kg) and the square of
the height (m). The BMI unit is kg/m².
For more details, check Table
F
on the fold
out page. The BMI is only a rough indicator.
How do the scales measure body fat?
The scales measure the body fat
percentage using the Bioelectrical
Impedance Analysis (BIA) method. To take
this measurement, the appliance sends an
extremely weak electrical signal through
your body and measures your body’s
resistance (impedance) to this signal.
The impedance is affected by your body’s
composition.
Since they contain water, your muscles and
organs are good conductors. Fat, on the
other hand, is a bad conductor.
The scales compute the body fat
percentage from the measured resistance
and the values stored in the User Proile
(height, age, gender).
