CAUTION
Contact with fully automatic coffee maker descaling agent can lead to
eye and skin irritation.
Observe the processing instructions on the packaging of the fully auto-
matic coffee maker descaling agent.
AT TENTION
The use of unsuitable descaling agent can damage the appliance.
Only use the Melitta® ANTI CALC Espresso Machines liquid descaling
agent.
AT TENTION
A water filter may be damaged if it is screwed in during the descaling
programme.
Remove the water filter when the appliance requests you to do so.
Place the water filter into a vessel filled with tap water during the desca-
ling programme.
The water filter can be reinserted and reused when the descaling pro-
gramme is complete.
Requirement:

using the arrow buttons and confirm with "menu/ok".
4. Follow the further instructions on the display up to the end of the desca-
ling programme.

8.8 Setting the water hardness
Setting the water hardness regulates how frequently you are requested to
descale the appliance. The harder the water, the more frequently the appli-
ance has to be descaled.
Information
The water hardness cannot be set if you use a water filter. The water hard-
ness is automatically set to 1 =
soft
(see section 8.9
