Установите длину стежка на «4» и прошейте прямым 
стежком параллельные линии на 1 см друг от друга 
поперёк всей области присбаривания.

Завяжите узлы на одном из краёв, вытяните шпульные 
нити и равномерно распределите сборки.
Закрепите нити на другом крае. 
Прошейте декоративные строчки между прямыми швами. 
Распустите стежки сборок.

Наметайте (или приклейте утюгом или флизелином) 
аппликацию на ткань. Шейте вокруг аппликации так, 
чтобы стежки ложились по внешнему краю аппликации. 
При шитье углов опускайте иглу в ткань, поднимайте 
лапку и поворачивайте ткань вправо или влево.

With the stitch length at “4”, sew straight 

stitching lines 1 cm (3/8˝) apart, across the area 

to be smocked.

Knot the threads along one edge. Pull the bobbin 

threads and distribute the gathers evenly.

Secure the threads at the other end.

Sew the decorative stitch between the gathering 

stitches.

Pull out the gathering stitches.

Baste (or fuse with iron-on fabric joiner) applique 

pieces on the fabric.

Stitch around the applique making sure the 

needle falls along the outer edge of the applique.

When sewing corners, lower the needle down 

into the fabric.

Raise the presser foot and pivot the fabric to the 

right or left.
