Before removing the card reader board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet, and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the bottom cover (see
).
5.
Remove the battery (see
).
Remove the smart card reader board:
NOTE:
Make sure nothing is installed in the card reader before removing it.
1.
Disconnect the cable from the smart card reader board (1).
2.
Disconnect the touchpad cable from the smart card reader board (2).
3.
Remove the 3 Phillips M2.0x2.0 screws that secure the bracket to the top cover (3), and then remove the
bracket from atop the card reader board (4).
4.
Lift the smart card reader board from the computer (5).
Reverse this procedure to install the smart card reader board.
